On the occasion of the International Day of Immunology 2026, focused on the theme “Regulatory T Cells: Guardians of Immune Balance,” the CIML highlights the work of Magali Irla, whose research is advancing our understanding of immune tolerance.

Magali Irla, Team Leader at CIML, leads the “Immune tolerance and T-cell differentiation” team. Her work has identified the lymphotoxin axis as a key checkpoint of Treg development in the thymus, and her current research aims to identify inhibitory molecules selectively expressed on Foxp3⁺ Tregs in order to enhance their suppressive function and improve their therapeutic applicability in autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection.
