Dr Lawrence holds a PhD in Experimental Pathology form the University of London and performed post-doctoral work at the University of California San Diego as a Wellcome Trust International Research Fellow. He has since held faculty positions at The Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, Imperial College London, Bart's Cancer Institute at Queen Mary University of London, and King's College London. Since 2009, he has been a tenured Research Director at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) and Group Leader at the CIML.
His research is focused on the biology of macrophages and dendritic cells and particularly their impact on cancer. His lab applies sophisticated genetic mouse models, high dimensional single cell analysis and imaging to unravel the roles of myeloid cells in tumor development and progression.
