Dr. Broggi received his PhD in Translational Medicine in 2012 in the laboratory of Francesca Granucci at the University of Milan-Bicocca, where he studied peripheral T-cell tolerance and the role of the transcription factor NFAT in phagocytes.
In 2015, he joined Ivan Zanoni's laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital as a postdoctoral researcher, where he demonstrated a novel immunomodulatory function of IFN-λ, which inhibits neutrophil activation and protects mucosal barriers during intestinal inflammation.
From 2018, as an Instructor, he also studied the role of interferons in the respiratory system and described how IFN-λ can impair tissue repair after acute viral pneumonia.
In 2021, Achille joined the CIML, where he continues his research on responses to interferons as key regulators of mucosal biology, and more specifically on the regulation of the intestinal barrier.
