Context

This PhD develops Spatial SCENITH to map functional metabolism with spatial resolution in the MSCA Doctoral Network UNLIMITED, with links to MetaNiche and BCARE projects. The program includes secondments and collaborative training within the European ImmunoMetabolism network.

Project goals

  • Optimize Spatial SCENITH for ex vivo tissues using confocal spectral microscopy and high-content imaging, and build a standardized ~10-marker confocal panel (lipid and mitochondrial readouts).
  • Integrate Spatial SCENITH with advanced transcriptomic platforms (for example, Xenium) for multi-omics analysis; contribute to shared SOPs across the network.
  • Apply this cutting edge technologies to understand the glycolytic stress response and lipid metabolism.

Required experience

  • Imaging and quantitative high-content analysis (segmentation and feature extraction) in immunology or tissue contexts.
  • Hands-on experience in immunofluorescence and confocal spectral microscopy.
  • Familiarity with multiplex platforms such as IBEX, MACSima, or Xenium.
  • Coding for image analysis (Python or MATLAB) and solid statistics.

Plus

  • Background in immunometabolism or epigenetics.
  • Experience with spatial-omics pipelines.
  • Collaborative mindset and clear scientific writing.

Practical

  • Enrollment: Aix-Marseille University with MSCA-DN conditions.
  • Start: Academic year 2025/2026 (flexible within network timeline).
