About

Bilal El Waly is currently a Principal Scientist at Temper Bio, conducting his research within the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML). He thereby benefits from a scientific environment of excellence, globally recognized for its cutting-edge breakthroughs in immunology. This role highlights his commitment to the valorization of academic research and technology transfer. He plays a pivotal part in this highly promising deep-tech spin-off, backed by the biotech venture Argobio studio, which develops innovative first-in-class therapies (based on the TAFA4 neurokine) to modulate the neuro-immune system and treat neurodegenerative diseases.

Spearheading this translational dynamic, Bilal El Waly brings his specialized expertise in the mechanisms of central nervous system (CNS) repair, particularly in neuroinflammation and glial cell biology. His multidisciplinary approach combines genetic models and advanced intravital imaging techniques to dissect in real-time the complex interactions between the nervous and immune systems. His current research aims to understand how neuropeptides regulate neuroinflammation in order to identify new therapeutic targets for demyelinating and neurodegenerative diseases.
