Summary

Under homeostatic conditions, murine dendritic cells (DCs) undergo a tolerogenic activation termed homeostatic maturation, preventing autoimmunity by inducing tolerance to innocuous antigens; whether this process occurs in humans is unknown. In this issue of Immunity, Lu et al. report that splenic human type 2 DCs undergo homeostatic maturation under thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) instruction.
