Nathalie Pujol is a Research Director at the CNRS. Her group used C. elegans to dissect the genetic basis of epidermal innate immunity and the response to wounding. Building on the discovery that damage to the apical extracellular matrix (aECM) constitutively activates the innate immune response, they now examine the mechanical coupling between the aECM and the epidermis, and how aECM morphogenesis drives epidermal cytoskeletal reorganisation. Deeply attached to C. elegans as a genetic and holistic model, she has contributed to building the French C. elegans community and, recently, an international cross-species community working on apical matrices.
Nathalie PUJOL is an academic editor at PLOS Genetics, Chair of the CNRS National Committee (24-Cell biology, development, evolution-development) and member of the CORES at the Turing Centre for Living Systems (Centuri).
She joined the CIML in 2001 to work together with Jonathan EWBANK on host defence against natural fungal pathogens, after a PhD and post-doc in neuronal developmental genetics.
