Franck Galland a rejoint en 2024 l’équipe Innate Immunity at Mucosal Sites (Dr. A. Broggi, CIML), où il étudie le rôle métabolique des cellules épithéliales intestinales dans les maladies inflammatoires chroniques de l’intestin (MICI) ainsi que le potentiel thérapeutique du ciblage du métabolisme du CoA.

En 1996, aux côtés du Prof. Philippe Naquet au CIML, il a co-découvert la famille des enzymes Vanin et a ensuite démontré le rôle clé de la pantéthéinase Vnn1 dans la protection de la muqueuse intestinale, la stimulation de la production de mucus et le renforcement de la résistance à la colite via la régulation du métabolisme de la vitamine B5/CoA.

Professeur à l’Université d’Aix-Marseille (AMU), il a encadré sept thèses de doctorat. Il a été le porteur de projet pour la création du Master d’Immunologie en 2018, qu’il dirige encore aujourd’hui. Ce Master a obtenu en 2024 le label d’excellence amideX PLUS dans le cadre de l’initiative TIGER–France 2030.
